This made me cry: Dove campaign for real beauty

Seriously, us girls are so hard on ourselves. Even the most beautiful girls I know have insecurities.

I’ve hear it all, I’ve have super beautiful mixed blood girls say they aren’t good enough!! Or they aren’t pretty, wow??? Seriously I would kill to be you, but it’s true we all have some form of insecurity issues.

This is why when I watched this campaign by Dove, I was reduced to tears, because it really hit a raw nerve. I do the same thing as those women in there, like wow – made me feel so stupid.

I know Dove had been doing this real beauty thing for a while now, but this video was different, I think it really made me look into my mind, not just my body.
It has really nothing to do with how we look, it’s all to do with how we think. We could be Miranda Kerr and still feel like we have a big nose, or a crooked face because our flaws only exist in our heads.
I truly believe that to feel beautiful we need to fix ourselves from the inside out, as cliche as it sounds.

If the sketch artist drew me from my description of myself I think this may be what it looks like:

But thanks to Jho R at Oliveneedspopeye, apparently this is how I look πŸ™‚ Much cuter I think!!

Anyways enough of my blabber, it’s so late and I need to sleep but I really wanted to share this with you! I’ll let the video do all the talking.

If this video made you cry like me, leave a comment so I don’t feel so stupid :)!! (maybe it’s that time of the month again too)
Goodnight πŸ™‚

That was so powerful and moving. Sad that we women think of ourselves so much less than we really are!

Yes, I think that the female population are really hard on themselves. Because we know our own 'flaws' we tend to pick on it more

It makes me sad that so many women don't think they're good enough. I don't really think I'm perfect but I'm actually pretty ok with that! I like myself the way I am. Sounds silly saying this considering I blog about makeup and beauty but looks are not everything, being happy and living a fulfilling life matters more πŸ™‚

I must say the video is quite moving. I think everyone realizes that they're too hard on themselves but I guess overcoming it is definitely the hardest part. I wouldn't even know where to start if someone was to ask me how I thought I looked. :/ Thanks for sharing this video! It brightened up my day a bit. πŸ™‚

    Your blog is so pretty!

I love Dove not only because of their amazing products but because of the image they're sending to women and girls everywhere. I love that they're trying to change people's perception of beauty to a more realistic one.

It's really inspirational and tells us about what beauty is really all about. We care for physical beauty and enhancements but that's not really it. I love Dove's campaigns too. πŸ™‚ Great post Wengie! Other people see the real beauty in us that we don't see in ourselves.

By the way, have you seen the Gwiyomi craze? I'd love to see a video of you doing it too πŸ™‚
