All this I bought from the Tampines1 Etude House store :)!! The sale assistants were so helpful!
Doll Makeup Tutorial
Make sure you start off with a moisturised and exfoliated face. With this look the most important part is to have procelain skin right?? So must be as smooth as possible before you start!
Step 1: Primer
I used the Etude HouseNymph Aura Boosting Primer for this look. This primer has a great pearlecent shine to it and a very fluid texture that just glides on. It’s not thick at all and feels very comfortable. This is a great base to use because it gives you a glow. The exact technique I used can be seen in more detail through my dewy skin tutorial but here is what you do.
Spread a thin layer of product using your fingers and massage into your face
After the first layer has dried, add a second layer to the parts of your face that you want to stand out and give more of a 3D effect. I have marked these spots with the pink circle(your forehead, nose bridge, high cheeckbones)
the primer made me look paler and gave me a glow – maybe a bit too shiny so you need to put bb cream on top 🙂
Step 2: BB cream
The precious minerals bb cream has really good coverage and perfect for creating the white porcelain skin base. If you are looking for a bb cream that can cover more than your normal one, I recommend this one. Make sure your skin is well moisturised before as the thicker consistency tends to hang on to dry flakey skin. If you skin is very, I would recommend their moistfull collagen range.
Pump the bb cream onto the back of your hand and use a foundation brush or stippling brush to apply on to you face. This ensure you spread only a thin layer at a time so you don’t get uneven texture. Also using a brush prevents you from wiping off the layer of base you just put on. Use circular motions.
Now after you have applied, the brush may not create a smooth finish so use you warm fingers to press the bb cream onto your face, don’t forget to apply the product to your neck if the colour is lighter then your natural skin.
the bb cream was a bit lighter then my skin, but you can’t be a porcelain doll with a tan right :)??
Step 3: Powder
I used the matching precious minerals BB sun pact to set the bb cream. This has great sun protection and gives your skin a much smoother look. Almost like velvet!
Use a big fluffy brush or the sponge that comes with it. If you use a big fluffy brush take thin layers and build up.
I used the sponge and you can just use a soft dabbing motion and really press the powder into the skin. Don’t take too much product at once or it will become patchy, take a thin layer and build slowly.
such smooth perfect skin after you apply 3 layers of face stuff 😉 This is very important for the perfect skin and something all the Koreans do daily!
Step 4: Eyebrows
Now this to me is one of the most important step to getting a innocent doll look. For more detail on how to draw a straight eyebrow please check out my video tutorial. Otherwise I will explain it as detailed as I can. Here I used the easy brow from Etude House, which gave me more control then powder.
You want to draw a line from the bottom corner of your eyebrow straight across till you meet your eyebrow again. This closes off your bottom curve.
Next you draw a straight line from the top of your arch to the inner end of your eyebrow. This also closes off the curve on the top.
Once you have created these lines fill in using short lines and sketchy strokes to imitate real hairs.
Hope you can see what I’m doing! If you’re confused please watch my eyebrow tutorial.
Step 5: Eyeshadow
I wanted to keep the eyeshadow fairly light and natural without too much bold colour. So make sure when you do this step you are light with your application. I am using cute bright colours but only applying a soft wash of colour.
I’m using the LuciDarling pallet from Etude house. The colour pay-off was very impressive, and it comes with 2 different applicator brushes.
Apply the white colour to your brow bone for a more 3D brow bone.
Make them brow bones pop!!
Apply the pink colour on the 2nd half of your eyelid and follow your natural eyelid curve. Don’t worry about being too neat you can blend it out
Apply the orange on the inner half of your eyelid, again following your natural curve.
Finish off with the white pear colour on the center of the lide to make your eyelids pop and look rounder.
Use the dark brown on the 2nd half of your lower lashes. This will give you a droopy eye look and will be less noticeable once you apply your bottom lashes.
I have marked out on the left where the colors should go 🙂
Step 6 Eyeliner:
Liquid liners are perfect for this look, since you want a clean line to make your features clean on your white skin. I used the Etionette black liquid liner, and it’s very black. Make sure you wipe the product on the side of the container first or you might have a big splash of eyeliner.
Apply the eyeliner from the middle and extend out following the natural curve of your eye. Stop just below the corners of your eye.
Draw from the bottom lash and join the end you just created.
This eyeliner look also makes your nose and mouth look small by extending the length of your eyes since dolls have massively small nose and mouth we need to try our hardest!!
The most standout feature of any porcelain doll is huge curly thick lashes!! I got this pair from etude house that has some cute glitter bits on it, and you can’t skip the bottom lashes.
The bottom lashes actually make your eyes look much much bigger! It’s magic.
Note: I skipped mascara because dolls have plastic eyelashes when they are made 🙂 And we’ll have more then enough long lashes without mascara – you can curl them before you apply.
Stick the top lashes on top of your lashes. Because we only applied eyeliner on the 2nd half of the lid you can use false lashes and stick the lash band on top of your eyelashes at the base instead of on your eyelid – this may take practice bit sticking them lower makes it look more natural and shows more of your eyelid skin – the precious precious eyelid skin us asians don’t have much of :(.
Cut the bottom lashes in half so that you only apply it on the 2nd half of your eyes. This gives you a more droopy eye look which makes you look more innocent 🙂
Stick the bottom lashes on top of your bottom lashes too.
I use scissors to cut my bottom lashes plus it’s easier to apply 🙂
Step 7: Rose petal lips
I guess we all know dolls have really small cute pink lips, and in real life our lips may not be as delicate. In fact I have big fish lips in comparison so we will be using the lip sponge applicator that you get in the Etoinette brush set to apply a cute lip look that will make your lips look smaller from far away.
Cover your lips with concealor and blur the line between your skin and lips
Use the sponge applicator and pick up some lipstick.
Apply it only in the inner rims of your lips
You then want to use your finger and softly blend it out (not too much or you’ll end up with bigger looking lips)
Finish with a tiny bit of gloss, focusing on the inner rim and again blending it softly out.
This is using a korean style technique and I have a video tutorial here if you want to find out more. Only thing different is you’ll be applying a foundation or concealor to your lips beforehand.
this wouldn’t look so bad if I had a smokey eye right?? Now I just look pale :))
In Chinese they call this the “bite lip look” like you just bitten you inner lip from being nervous and cute 😀
AND WE”RE ALMOST DONE!!
Step 8: Blush
The last step is putting on blush 🙂 This will help give you a rosy glow that you’ll desperately need from being so pale and white. I’m using lovely cookie blusher in a cute baby pink. The pale bb cream creates a very nice canvas for the blush to sit on, you can actually see it quite clearly.
Use a blush brush and pick up a small amount of blush
Smile and apply it on the apples of your cheeks and blend up to your temples.
If your blush brush is too big to blend up to your cheekbones you can use your fingers to squeeze it flat and use the now thin edge to blend up.
Now you should feel like a total PORCELAIN DOLL :)!!
To finish off your look you should think of incorporating curls and bows into your hair and wear soft pastels and whites as your outfit! They will make you look very doll-like 🙂
I wanted to take some photos with Lotso :D!!
