I want to feel like a princess when I put on my make up

I’ve always had a dream of having a beautifully decorated room growing up, however my parents were cheap and I always just ended up with ugly brown furniture that never matched! I’m pretty sure my study desk was picked up from one of those council clean up days and my bookcases were a totally different brown, my sheets were just whatever was on sale at k-mart and at one stage the carpet in my room was an ugly teal colour. I love my parents but they just had no taste in interiors and didn’t care either :P. So I made do with what I had at the time but now I’m older and can actually afford to buy my own furniture I have been dreaming of a beautiful dressing table!

Now that you know about my horribly deprived childhood you can understand why I have decided to go ALL OUT on my new dressing table and make up space :)!! I’m actually converting my living room into my dressing room ๐Ÿ˜€ Lucky my boyfriend is a nice guy and is letting me move the TV and replace it with pretty stuff :)!!

I have gone through a few dressing tables so far:

The first one being the Ikea MALM $199 –  which I loved because of the neat drawer it came with and plus I managed to grab the sample from Ikea at a discount. (ok so I’m cheap too sometimes :))

The second one I replace it with is actually a study desk called the MICKE also from Ikea due to my lack of space once my bf moved in and needed a second desk for his computer.

Excuse the mess ๐Ÿ™ Mum always told me I should clean up before I invite people over – my bad ๐Ÿ˜›

They aren’t bad desks and I highly recommend them since they are cheap and actually look nice and the storage space is very functional. My dream however is to upgrade to a beautiful  french dresser – which mind you does NOT match any of my existing furniture and which is why I’ve been putting it off. But screw it YOLO!!!!

Here are some of the ones I found:

Those that are under $500

Dresser with mirror by LivingGood $240
Dressing table with bench by LivingGood $284

Hemnes from Ikea $379

Dressing table with mirror by By Designs $500

The expensive mumma’s

Classic french 5 drawer desk by By Designs $1,065

Round mirror dressing table and chair from FrenchBoutique.com.au $1,658
Frech Rococo Dressing table with matching stool from frenchboutique.com.au $1,648
French Provincial Dressing Table from frenchboutique.com.au $1,698
Princess dressing table from frenchboutique.com.au$1,499

French Louis XVI by Bay Street $1,145
French Louis dressing table by Bay Street $1,179

I really love the French Rococo dressing table but it was way out of my budget. If you have the budget, they look so nice!!
I wanted something under $500 but still wanted the combo. My favourite so far is this piece from trend living:
For the price you also get the matching stool, which is so pretty! It may not be the most detailed but it’s great for the price you pay :)!!
I’ll take pictures of it when I finish decorating my corner, as far as “redecorating” projects go I’m envisioning this to take a few months. In the meantime, I’d love to see your dressing tables and setups :)!!
