Choosing the right curling iron – how thick should your barrel be for waves or spirals?

One of the most confusing things for me in regards to hair is actually picking a curling iron! Straighteners were simple, I mean there was only one “type” of plate which was flat. With curling irons it was hard to decide which barrel size you needed. Actually no one really explained it to me I just guessed.

In fact a sad story of mine is I lost my babyliss curler, which cost me a dear sum of money and is forever misplaced πŸ™ I really don’t know where it could have gone!
I’ve since replaced it with a Vidal Sassoon 1 inch barrel one I picked up cheap from K-Mart, but I wish I had consulted this image before I bought it.
This guide is really useful and shows you what curling results you get off each barrel thickness! I’ve always been a fan of waves over smaller curls, so I’m loving the top 4 thickness’s πŸ™‚ Scroll down for my fave πŸ˜€
I found this guide thanks to
I honestly really love the curls of the 1.5 inch barrel!! I love the soft waves of the ones bigger but I know they’ll start to fall into straight hair after an hour and I’ll be sad πŸ™

Actually to be completely honest, most of the time I’m too lazy to curl my hair. My hair is naturally wavy + I have some perm left from maybe 4 years ago (yes it’s a long time but I think because my hair is naturally wavy maybe it keeps for longer?)
When you see my wavy hair on video it’s mainly because I normally tie it in a loop bun like this:
Yup, my lazy go to style that I wear to work to keep the hair out of my way. After you let your hair go though, it goes into some nice curls (and some retarded kinks).
I’ll be happy with this for now until I decide I need a new 1.5 inch barrel curling iron :)!! Also I may also be cutting my hair short, I promised a friend I would but I’m really scared O_O!! I never react well to short hair but I always yearn for it… what is a girl to do??

What is you favourite curl type :)??

Stay awesome :)!!

Much love,

Hey Wengie, if you are deciding to get short hair, you should look at fashion magazines, particularly Asian ones (since you're Asian hehe) you can get Asian fashion magazine at the newsagency in Market City, Sydney. It's called Ray Lee but it's all in chinese haha
I got my hair cut short 2 years ago, and I had long hair down to my bum (:
So I went so short, similar to Emma Waston's but cross Alice (from Twilight).
It look my a couple of months to decide what I wanted, when I found the style, I went and cut my hair myself….yeah I cut my own hair but it's great,(:
If you do get it cut and you don't like it, you can always get hair extensions, they look so natural looking if you buy the good ones. I ordered mine from "Luxy Hair", they sell high quality extensions for a quarter of the price!
or you can buy wigs, which I did too,

    Good luck

Oh wow :)!! I don't read Ray Lee but I buy ViVi every month form kinokuniya! I have a weakness for Jap mags πŸ™‚ they are really into these dramatic jobs atm but I'm thinking of doing curly short hair :)! Maybe perm the bottom as well so they style is maintainable for lazy ppl like me πŸ™‚ I'm still scared though :(!!! I love the wig though! Looks great :)!
